Kenan Thompson insists Melissa McCarthy can still "pop up" on 'Saturday Night Live'.
The 'Bridesmaids' actress - who scooped a Creative Arts Emmy award at the weekend for her guest stint has host on the popular sketch series - received huge critical acclaim for her portrayal of former White House press secretary Sean Spicer on the long-running comedy show, and though the aide has now stepped down from his position, 'SNL' regular Kenan insists that doesn't mean Melissa will have to retire her impression.
He told 'Extra': "I feel like she can always pop up, whenever it's gonna be an awesome, funny moment."
Meanwhile, Spicer - who resigned from his position in July after President Donald Trump named former hedge fund executive Anthony Scaramucci as communications director - has joked the 47-year-old actress should share her Emmy with him.
Asked by TheBlast.com if she owed her win to him, he smiled and said: "I think we should share."
Spicer hasn't always taken the parody in good humour, claiming in February it was "too mean" and Melissa should "dial it back".
He also said of 'SNL': "There's a streak of meanness now that they've crossed over to mean."
And shortly before he resigned, he branded the sketches "stupid or silly or malicious" and said much of the impression was "over the line".
However, it was reported in August he'd had a change of heart and even wanted to make a cameo appearance on the show.
A source said previously: "He is asking people about getting on -- it was his idea!
"He asked someone he knows that is close to a cast member to help him. Yes, he criticised 'SNL' before, but he's changed his tune. He wants to make a cameo!"
